The conspirators made every possible attempt to escape by absconding and applying for anticipatory bail. However, the Judiciary is taking stringent stand against them and has been denied the anticipatory bail. Lenin Karuppan was arrested and was incarcerated for for 108 days. The passport of Aarthi Rao’s has been confiscated and is prohibited to fly out of India. Lenin’s brother has been absconding and another co-conspirator Prasanna Kumar has died in an untimely early death.
Earlier, Sri Nithya Dharmananda alias K. Lenin filed the anticipatory bail application. The court also dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of Mr. Lenin’s brother, K. Kumar, in the case. The Judge said the petitioners were the brain behind the whole murky affair. They had tried to obtain money by blackmailing, cheating etc. Investigation in the case was on. Serious allegations had been made against them. In the facts and circumstances, their custodial interrogation became necessary.
Also, Chennai Police had earlier registered an FIR on 31 July 2011 against Mr. Saxena and Mr. Iyappan of Sun TV Network, Nakkheeran Gopal and Kamraj, Lenin Karuppan, his brother Kumar, his co-conspirators Aarthi Rao, advocate Sridhar and Prasanna Kumar, under various sections including 341, 342,392, 323, 420 & 506 (ii) IPC including extortion, criminal conspiracy and criminal intimidation following a complaint by the ashram administration.
