June 12, 2010 – His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda gave a revolutionary and soul-stirring satsang (discourse) on the topic: “Freedom”, at the end of the 53-day illegal imprisonment through planned attacks from anti-Hindu forces.
June 16, 2010 – His Divine Holiness sat for panchatapas – an ancient Vedic practice of sitting inside a fire circle – for destruction of collective negativity. Due to the abuse and attack done on an incarnation, His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda, prakriti – Nature – needs to be appeased to avoid pralaya (deluge for humanity). In order to balance prakriti, Paramahamsa Nithyananda sat for the tapas.
But what media noticed in the entire scene was one mug of kerosene brought by a few poor villagers as a fuel offering to the panchatapas undertaken by His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda.
What media never saw
1. Welfare, charitable, disaster-relief and other educational and social activities
2. Free services like anna daan (free food distribution), and free vedic education
3. Energy-healing and de-addiction camps
4. Later on, power manifestation by disciples and balasants of His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda.
What the media saw and made series of front page coverage and prime time news on was: 1 mug of (blue) kerosene found in Nithyananda Peetam!
Source of the blue kerosene
The one mug of blue kerosene was donated by the neighboring villagers who had also come to witness the powerful panchatapas. Some of them were from BPL (Below Poverty Line) so they had the ration kerosene which is the blue kerosene.
The row about a mug of kerosene
Kerosene is a combustible liquid and in its original form it is clear and colorless. The Indian government provides subsidized kerosene to poor people (BPL : People considered Below Poverty Line as per government) at a lower rate through the co-operative stores. To make it identifiable, it is dyed with blue color. The use of subsidized kerosene for people other than the poor is thus not desired by the government.
However that one mug of kerosene was portrayed by the media and several others as 175 liters of blue kerosene, thus launching yet another attempt to attack, abuse and defame, His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda and His mission.
Baseless FIR Filed by the Authorities against the Ashram

Just after being released from the jail, Nithyananda has become engaged with various kinds of ways …..to improve his image.
Nithyananda, today morning, started a new drama performance in the form of Pancha Tapas – whose images reveal and prove what we are showing you now on the screen
See how in between the circle of fire, Nithyananda is sitting. To improve his image among his devotees’ heart, the initiative that Nithyananda has taken up is by itself shocking.
Everyone knows about Nithyananda’s deeds, but even after that he is attempting to prove that is totally clean from sins. Infact, he says that he is doing this to cleanse the soul.
This implies that somewhere he feels that what he did was wrong. Swami Nithyananda was found to be accused in sex scandal; been released on bail for now; obscene CD was found and on investigation it was found to be real. Nithyananda had been saying from the beginning, it was a conspiracy to trap him; the CD is not his and the person in the CD is not him. But, after investigation these were proved false on investigation.
After being released from jail, he is sitting in between fire and doing penance. Shocking thing is that after such serious crimes have been charged against him, not only the ashram people are here, but also all the devotees from the city have come to get his vision (darshan). It is a matter to think whether it is a way to repent for his sins or it is a way of getting back people to trust him. He is trying to improve his image, which has been badly damaged. Rohini, we want to know whether it is repentance or a way to improve his image to entice his devotees?

If we see from one side, it seems to be a way to improve his image. We saw that after a day of being released from the prison, He sat for Pancha Tapas and called media to see and show what he is doing. His disciples were also found with him and their talks show that they are trying to build his image. Also, lot of devotees had come to the ashram to meet him and he was also meeting them. He said that whatever penance he was doing, in a way, was for world cleansing and removing all the negativity from the environment. But after being in a controversy for over 100 days and then doing this, it feels like he is trying to build back his image.
